Humboldt State
Greetings folks from Humboldt State University, where I am spending my second full night alone and my third night altogether. My classes do not start until Mon, but the orientation program is keeping me plenty busy. Tomorrow I will sign up for classes, and then Sunday I will go out on a Service/Seakyaking trip.
My Roommate and I have not yet met, he already went through orientation so that he will not arrive until Friday or Saturday. Nevertheless, he and I have talked on the phone and he sounds like a nice guy.
I am making an effort to make friends here. Most people know me as pathologically outgoing, but I still have problems making lasting friendships, espescially with people outside my religion (Which is messed up because I am not very religious.) So when I came up here, I said to myself "I will make friends with non-Christian Scientists, damnit!" (There is nothing wrong with CSers per se except that I don't think its healthy to have a bunch of friends who think exactly like you.)
I have been actively looking for musicians who I can jam with. Today I met a guy named Travis who plays Guitar, Banjo, and Fiddle. I have an accordion that I brought with me and so I gave him my email address and I HOPE we can jam. Travis lives off campus somewhere but there is also a guy named Mark who lives in the same cluster of Buildings that I live in, so he and I may get together and raise a little hell.
We'll see what happens. I am in such a rush to make new friends I foget that its only the first week and that there will be plenty of time in the next few months to make friends. Still, I want to make as concerted an effort as possible.

Sounds cool, hopefully things work out well for ya. I'm going to have to check out their webpage, but keep us all up to date on life out there.
