Tribute to The Pope

It's been really interesting, the last few days, to see what has gone on when a Pope dies. I've been around long enough to see two presidents and a prominent member of the British Royalty pass away, but neither the Queen Mother nor the President of the United States commands quite following of the woldwide leader of Catholic Church. Being raised in a Protestant household, The Pope, and the pomp and circumstance surrounding him, has very little meaning to me. But John Paul II, as a man, does. Seeing him only through the eyes of the media, really experiencing him through the camera's lens, I saw a charismatic, caring leader who loved people and was willing to stand up for what be believed was right. Above all, John Paul II seems to me to have been the epitome of what it means to be a tough guy. The last several years of his life were filled with illness, but he maintained a rigorous travel schedule, going all around the world, visiting many places and blessing many people. I don't know where people go when they die, but I know John Paul II is in a good place.
